Saddam Hussein: French Media Mogul

As you may recall, HFP, a French publisher, had a new venture called Shock magazine which showed a photo of a US soldier holding an Iraqi girl on its premiere issue. This photo belongs to Michael Yon. He never allowed for the printing of his photo (and never would have, given the vile nature of the magazine). HFP admitted to the theft and a settlement was agreed upon, except HFP violated that agreement. Furtheremore HFP decided to slander Mr. Yon.

Well look who owns a chunk of Lagardere SCA, who in turn owns HFP? I’m not surprised, given the hatefilled tone of the magazine against the US military, and HFP’s arrogance in dealing with this issue. But it made me ill to learn that he may have profitted from many of the popular magazines here in the US such as ELLE, Car and Driver, and Road & Track. It’s time to talk to Border’s again.

And even though Saddam Hussein’s ownership had been frozen for over a decade, HFP never bought out his interests. So, there’s the possiblity that it can be unfrozen, to the tune of ~$92 million dollars!

Hat Tip: Michael Yon.
